Nagtabon Bay
After panoramic views of mountains and ravines is Nagtabon Bay in Barangay Bacungan. The over 800 meters long stretch of fine cream sand is ideal for a lazy day under the sun and swimming. Nagtabon Bay is also a good jump off point for a other interesting activities like boat trips to nearby Tala-Odiong beach and Hen and Chicken Island.

Destinations within the City

Crocodile Farm and Nature Park
The Crocodile Farm and Nature Park is a showcase of the government’s conservation project. The farm has two endangered species that are being bred, including the endemic Philippine crocodile. It is a rare opportunity to see crocodiles at every stage of their development, basking in the sun, swimming in the pools or just watching your every move. Learning about crocodiles is fun in the crocodile farm.
The Crocodile Farm and Nature Park is located inside the grounds of the PWRCC in Bgy. Irawan. Jeepneys and tricycles with trips to Irawan can be found along Malvar St. Chartered vehicles are also available.

Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center
A visit to The Palawan Wildlife Rescue and Conservation Center, more popularly known as PWRCC, is not limited to crocodile farming. Visitors can also check out other rare animals like the Nicobar pigeon, bearcat, the serpent eagle, parrots, talking mynah, among others and relax in the wilderness park inside the premises. Nature enthusiasts will love it here because it is like walking inside a zoo without cages.
The PWRCC is located in Bgy. Irawan. There are jeepneys and tricycles bound for Irawan found along Malvar St. or private vehicles for hire that one can take to get there. Travel time may take about 20 minutes.

Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm
First established by the Americans in 1904 to supply food to other prisons all over the country, Iwahig has since been dubbed as the “oldest prison without walls”. Amidst the rehabilitation farm atmosphere, inmates are allowed to engage in handicraft as they live and work like free men. They are also allowed to live with their families in designated areas in the premises. Be sure to check out the souvenir items consisting of finely handicrafted bags and mahogany woodcrafts.
Located in Bgy. Iwahig, 16 km. south of the city proper. Traveling time takes roughly 35 minutes from the city proper via jeepneys bound for the penal farm found along Valencia st. or rented private vehicles.

Balsahan River Swimming Resort
Iwahig’s covers vast farmlands, dense forest and a river that leads to the balsahan river swimming resort where one can take a dip in the natural pool. It is a favorite of the local tourists, not only because of the clean water from mountain springs but also because of the usnpoilt natural beauty you cannot help but admire.

The balsahan river swimming resort is just a few minutes away from the center of the iwahig prison and penal farm. One can also take a ride bound for the penal farm or rent a private vehicle.

Palawan Butterfly Garden
Whether you’re a nature enthusiast or not, you should not miss the rare chance to get near friendly butterflies. In the Palawan Butterfly Garden, these “often shy” insects are brave and carefree enough to land on your fingers as if they were you’re pets. Visitors will get to see dozens of species of butterflies with different colors and some other that closely resembles butterflies found in our neighboring countries. Butterflies are also released into the garden for a time and you will surely be surrounded by myriads of butterflies, a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
One can take a tricycle bound for Sta. Monica found along Malvar St. or hire a private vehicle to get to the garden.

Rancho Sta. Monica
Get to see and realize how vast and beautiful the island of Palawan is by visiting Rancho Sta. Monica. A viewdeck owned by the Mitra’s, Rancho Sta. Monica offers the most breathtaking view of Palawan a few hundred feet above the rest of the city.
Public transport bound for Sta. Monica are found along Malvar St. Chartered vehicles are also available to the ranch.

Palawan Museum
Right in the heart of the city is the Palawan Museum to feed a tourist’s hunger for local culture – and history. Formerly the Puerto Princesa City Hall building, it houses hundreds of Palawan relics and artifacts which will truly give you an appreciation of the province’s rich cultural heritage. Among the collection are those from the Tabon Caves of Quezon, Palawan where fossils of what is believed to be the first Filipino dating as far as 22,000 BC was found.
Getting to the museum from any point within the city one can take a tricycle or a multicab plying Rizal Avenue.

Galeri Kamarikutan
Galeri Kamarikutan is a must for visitors to Puerto Princesa who wish to immerse themselves in local art amidst a warm and cozy setting while having a cup of cappuccino. The atmosphere is simply magical and will do wonders to soothe your nerves after a day of sightseeing.
Galeri Kamarikutan is located along Rizal Avenue. To get there, one can take the tricycles plying this route. The café is open up to 11 pm.

Puerto Princesa Wet Market
Get yourself immersed in local day-to-day life as you visit the market where most of the local produce are brought for commercial purposes. Fresh sea foods, as well as recognized Palawan food items such as kasuy and lamayo are available at affordable prices.
The market is located along Malvar Street. One can take a tricycle since most ply along this route.

Vietnamese Village
Recognized as a tourist destination, Viet Ville gives a glimpse of life for the Vietnamese Boat People who have settled in Puerto Princesa a few years back. Take a few minutes to relax and sample the delicacies served in the Viet Ville Restaurant (must-try is the French bread and pho), take a peek at their souvenir shop or simply walk around and have a feel of the Boat People’s history. Viet Ville will surely give your visit to Palawan a unique twist.
Vietnamese Village is conveniently located along the North National Highway, Sta. Lourdes, Puerto Princesa City. Jeepneys bound for Sta. Lourdes are available, tricycles along Burgos St. or one may hire a private vehicle. Travel time takes about 25 minutes.

Palawan Treasures and Gifts Shop
This souvenir and gift shop will be the first to greet everyone once they step off the arrival area of the Puerto Princesa Airport. The shop has thousands of different proudly Palawan made items such as rainmakers and necklaces and bracelets made up of seashells. Tourists will also find in this shop great bargain for pearl necklaces, rings, and earrings for a set.
The Palawan Treasures and Gifts Shop is located inside the premises of the Puerto Princesa Airport, right beside the gates of the arrival area. From outside, one can take tricycles plying the Rizal Avenue route.

Mendoza Park
Get a feel of daily life for the city’s youth by walking through Mendoza Park. Lined by Palawan Cherry Blossoms and age-old acacia trees, the park was named after Dr. Higinio Mendoza, the province’s war hero. Tabuan Square located at the south side of the park is a haven for shopaholics and tourists on the lookout for souvenir and novelty items.
Mendoza Park is located at Rizal Avenue, just beside the Palawan Museum. One can take a multicab plying the Rizal Avenue route or a tricycle from any point in the city.
